Welcome to our blog!
Ludmila and Bhavaye came out west from their home in Ontario to have the most beautiful winter hiking pre-wedding session. With the mountains of British Columbia as their backdrop, this couple hiked to the amazing alpine lake to capture some creative photos before the wedding day.
ABOUT THE BRIDE & GROOM
Their love story began when Ludmila and Bhavaye attended university – they were both working towards their physics degrees. After he delivered a presentation on quantum computers, she was intrigued, and they began dating. Now, they’re both armed with their PhDs and are ready to embrace their next chapter together!
They first talked about marriage on a hiking trip in the Canadian Rockies. The following month, he proposed during a thunderstorm. In their favourite park, as the rain poured down, they got engaged. It was the perfect proposal for them. In India, rain is lucky, so getting engaged in the rain is a good sign!
Ludmila and Bhavaye are not just adventurous when hiking and travelling. They love to explore and experiment in the kitchen with new dishes and cuisines. The pair is also passionate about music. From classical, retro, and soundtrack music, there is always a tune coming out of their home speakers.
After getting a new job in British Columbia, they took a cross-country road trip and fell in love with the province’s natural beauty. They hiked the Berg Lake Trail to find striking glaciers and mountain peaks. This sparked their desire for a winter hiking pre-wedding session.
Bhavaye loves technology and planning new scientific projects, but he’s also spontaneous and calm. He challenges Ludmila to live in the moment and appreciate the little things. Ludmila loves nature photography and has an eye for interior design, fashion, and crafting. She considers herself a perfectionist and an extrovert by nature.
In many ways, they’re opposites who attract. But when it comes to the important things – like their values, common goals, and appreciation for tradition – the pair align perfectly.
PLANNING HIKING ADVENTURE PHOTO SESSION
The couple is planning their wedding for January 2022 in Ottawa but fell in love with the winter wonderland of the mountains and decided to fly out west to beautiful British Columbia for a winter hiking pre-wedding session. With the turquoise water of an alpine lake and the snow-dusted trees, Ludmila and Bhavaye knew precisely what they wanted us to capture.
It was smooth planning but came with its challenges. We’ve done sessions like this plenty of times, and we were ready to share all our expertise about winter hiking photo sessions. The couple embraced our knowledge and were so involved with the planning. From the number of outfit changes, the flowers, the cute mugs they made and more, these two made their photo session unique and personal.
The challenge came down to Mother Nature – as much as Ludmila and Bhavaye wanted snowy scenery, that’s the one thing we can’t control! We set the date, the couple got their tickets to BC, arranged for accommodations in Whistler all the while, hoping that the weather would be on our side.
THE DAY OF THE WINTER WONDERLAND PRE-WEDDING SESSION
As the session was approaching, we closely monitored the weather and saw the forecast was calling for rain on the planned day. The weather seemed to cooperate the next day, so we took the chance and moved the session. It really worked out, and we’re thrilled we did it!
We met with Ludmila and Bhavaye at 6:15 a.m. in Pemberton and set out for the trailhead. After months of correspondence back and forth over email and zoom calls, it was nice to meet the couple in person and get to know them better!
Once at the trailhead, we packed everything we needed and began the adventure. As we started hiking, the dark and freezing morning opened up into an enchanted winter forest. We knew that their vision for their photo session would come true. Everything from the beautiful lake waters and the snowy trees was exactly as they imagined!
We chose two locations for the photos. Ludmila and Bhavaye changed into their wedding wardrobe, and we started taking photos at the first lake. We then hiked a little further, where they did an outfit change for more photos.
It was such a unique winter hiking pre-wedding session, and we’re so happy that Ludmila and Bhavaye got exactly what they wanted. With these photos, their memories of their favourite adventures together in the mountains will never be far from their minds. We wish the couple all the best for their beautiful ceremony in Ottawa!
